If there’s one thing that most of us would really love to have more, it’s confidence. The idea of being able to walk down the street and not worry about what other people are thinking is something that most of us often consider to be little more than a pipe dream. After all, we’re constantly seeing images of people who look incredible and the idea of being able to measure up to that can be pretty discouraging. However, that’s not the way things need to be. Here are just a few ways that you can really start to get your confidence back.
Make changes where you can
When it comes to our confidence levels, most of us are in a position where we would really love to be able to make some changes to our lives and ourselves. The key is to look at your life and figure out which of those things are ones that you’re able to change. From workout regimes to diets to hair growth tablets, there are plenty go ways that you can change your body to feel more comfortable in it. But it might also be a matter of changing other elements of your life like getting out of a job that makes you miserable or walking away from toxic friendships.
Accept the things you can’t change
Of course, there are also always going to be things about yourself and your life that you’re unable to change and the key to dealing with those things is to learn to accept them. Maybe your body is just built in such a way that it’s never going to be the “ideal shape” but that doesn’t really mean anything. There’s no “right” way to look, just the ways that we’ve been conditioned to think about ourselves. Get to know your body and get used to it. Start to think about the things that you really like about it rather than constantly worrying about your flaws.
Fake it ’til you make it
Here’s the big secret of most really confident people: they probably didn’t start out that way. One of the best things that you can do if you want to start feeling more confident is acting more confident. Faking it ’til you make it might seem like a strange idea but the more you act confident, the more that you will start to feel that confidence as an inherent part of yourself. Before too long it will just feel second nature to you.
Of course, it’s important to remember that none of this is necessarily easy to do. The world we live in is one that is specifically built around trying to profit from people feeling bad about who they are and how they look. If you find yourself struggling to build your confidence back up then you don’t need to feel bad about that. It’s a difficult thing to do and it takes time for many of us. Just remember, it’s not about what the world around you thinks, it’s about how you feel inside.
